Study Abroad 2026: Universities across the United Kingdom have officially started accepting applications for the September 2026 intake, with thousands of Indian students expected to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes over the coming months. The United Kingdom continues to remain one of the most preferred study abroad destinations for Indian students due to its globally recognised institutions, shorter course durations and post-study work opportunities.
Leading universities in the UK have opened admissions for courses in engineering, business management, finance, healthcare, law, artificial intelligence, computer science and data analytics. Education experts have noted a growing demand for STEM-related programmes among Indian applicants, particularly in fields linked to technology and healthcare industries.
Students planning to apply for the September 2026 session have been advised to begin the application process early as several universities offer admissions on a rolling basis and may close applications once seats are filled. Candidates are also encouraged to prepare key documents including Statements of Purpose (SOPs), Letters of Recommendation (LORs), academic transcripts and English proficiency test scores such as IELTS or TOEFL.
According to overseas education consultants, scholarship opportunities and the UK’s Graduate Route visa continue to attract international students despite increasing tuition fees and living expenses in major cities such as London, Manchester and Edinburgh. The Graduate Route allows eligible students to remain in the UK for up to two years after completing their studies in order to seek employment opportunities.
Experts have further advised students to carefully research accommodation costs, visa rules, university rankings and internship opportunities before finalising applications for the upcoming academic session.
