NEET UG 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official statement regarding the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities linked to the NEET UG 2026 examination, following action initiated by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG). The agency said the examination conducted on May 3 proceeded as scheduled under a “full security protocol” and assured candidates that the integrity of the examination process remains a priority.
In its statement released today, NTA said the question papers were transported in GPS-tracked vehicles carrying unique watermark identifiers to ensure traceability. Examination centres across the country operated under AI-assisted CCTV surveillance connected to a central control room. The agency further stated that biometric verification of all candidates was carried out and 5G jammers were deployed at centres to prevent electronic malpractice.
“The examination process itself proceeded as planned across all centres on the day,” the agency said.
NTA clarified that it received inputs related to alleged malpractice only on the late evening of May 7, four days after the examination was conducted. According to the statement, the information was escalated to central agencies on the morning of May 8 for verification and further action.
The agency credited law enforcement authorities for the action taken in recent days, including detentions reported in the media, and said it is fully cooperating with investigating agencies by sharing examination-related data and technical assistance.
“The matter is presently under investigation and the facts will be established by the agencies in due course. NTA will not pre-judge the inquiry, nor characterise its likely outcome,” the statement said.
Addressing candidates and parents, NTA said the “effort and integrity” of genuine aspirants “is not in question, and will not be devalued.” The agency acknowledged the anxiety such reports may cause among students and urged candidates to allow investigating agencies to complete their work.
It further stated that any necessary action in the matter would be taken in consultation with the Ministry of Education after the investigation reaches a conclusive stage.
